Here in the Northeast we've had almost a solid month of feeling like we've been in the freezer. Unlike your groceries your local businesses don't last longer in the cold. As a business owner I realize that you don't want to come out in the cold. Heck, I don't want to go into the arctic blast either.
There is an alternative. When you are in your nice warm house you could shop online. Shopping on the web is convenient and WARM. It's even better than a Mall. How many times have you felt comfortable shopping in your pajamas at the mall and parking FUGGETABOUTIT ? When you open up your laptop, check your iPad, or surf the web on your mobile phone may I make a suggestion? SHOP LOCALLY ONLINE.
Many of your favorite establishments have eCommerce websites. We are the people that you rely upon for quality products and personalized service. We are also the people that rely on you for our very existence. Your neighbors are employed by us. We create local jobs and pay local taxes. If we don't survive the winter who will repair the items that you have or who will find the unique products that you want for yourself or for gifts.
If we don't have an item (online) that you're looking for you might even want to give us a call or send them an email. Let us know what you're interested in and perhaps we have the item in stock, or can get it for you. Sometimes we can offer a special "hot deal" on something new or make a suggestion based on the conversation. If it's an item we have in stock we can gift wrap it and send it directly to the person you're buying it for...even if that person is you. Think of us as your concierge or your personal shopper.
If you shop locally, first, you’re taking the first steps to creating a healthier local economy. Sometimes, Even if you look close to home first, you might not find what you want. If you tried and still end up buying from far away we (your local shopkeeper) will still be very thankful for your loyalty and your thoughtfulness. Furthermore, your inquiries may even help us to better serve you so we'll have the products and/or services you'd suggested (when it becomes warmer) when you come to the shop in person.

BTW...if you do come to the shop during the cold, please, ask for a FREE hot cup of coffee or tea. It's our way of showing our appreciation and making you a little warmer.
