Every year, as soon the Best Picture winner is announced and the final curtain falls on the Oscars ceremony, post-awards season life feels a little anticlimactic. After weeks of speculation over gowns, jewels and box office clout, there’s a sudden drought of top tier glamour. Luckily, the spree of international fashion weeks is in session, which is a welcome source of distraction. Better still, a number of brands have made brooches a central accessory for fall 2015.
Many runway shows experimented with making old school textures and silhouettes feel relevant. Adding a brooch to the equation is an unexpected way of doing that. The key is to choose options with crisp, unfussy shapes and wearing a single oversized piece, or a collection of several smaller ones all at once. Is it too early to start forecasting that brooches will have a presence on the Academy Awards red carpet next year?
